Dr Tim Duffy graduated from UNSW with a Bachelor of Optometry in 1983 and began practising in Coonabarabran in 1984. In 1985, he founded his own independent clinic in Gunnedah and has been serving the region for the past 35 years. The Gunnedah office has grown from one optometrist and one secretarial staff to three optometrists, eight optical dispensers and three ancillary employees.

In 2015, Tim acquired Richard Orr’s Narrabri practise, another independent optometrist who had been serving his local community for over 30 years. To maintain and improve eye care in the Narrabri region, Narrabri Vision Splendid has two optometrists, Dr Sebastian Egan and Dr Debbie Baxter, as well as five trained optical dispensers and three office staff.

Tim maintains his enthusiasm for optometry by keeping up with the incredible technological advancements in the industry. Whether it’s advanced computerised imaging and scanning equipment to the revolution in contact lens designs and materials, the increased sophistication of spectacle lens technology to the beauty and fashion of spectacle frames. He also enjoys passing on knowledge to University students.

Tim was the first optometrist in the North West to complete his Ocular Therapeutics study and now works with local and metropolitan ophthalmologists to co-manage and treat a wide range of eye diseases and injuries. Tim is also CASA qualified. When not working, Tim spends his free time with his wife Katrina chasing after their four children. He recently completed 15 years of coaching junior rugby and maintains his fitness through cycling and triathlon.
