Colourimetry at Vision Splendid

What are coloured lenses
and colourimetry?

Colourimetry is a technique for determining a precise lens colour to reduce visual stress in individuals. It is carried out by one of our certified optometrists using the Cerium colour machine. Coloured lenses or overlays can help people with visual stress by changing the contrast between letters and their backgrounds, reducing glare on displays or in books.

When reading or using computer screens, glare causes a lot of discomfort for many adults and children. Visual stress affects around 5% of the population severely and 20% to a smaller extent. These individuals exhibit poor reading fluency and comprehension, as well as susceptibility for early fatigue. Visual stress, also known as Meares-Irlen Syndrome, is a condition that can be treated using coloured lenses.

Do I need a colourimetry test?

Colourimetry is not required for all patients with visual problems. It is typically scheduled for a second consultation if it is determined that it is necessary for you.
